This is a conflict that everyone tassels with in their lifetime. You see, the hard part is that procrastination pushes your progress, back hours, weeks, months or years at a time as well as growth, maintaining time management, and even self-awareness. How can you get something done without saying "one another hour" maybe you like "I'll do it tomorrow".
Here's my advice, simply do it. Think of the anxiety, the stress, and mainly relief of getting the job done. May it be homework, study, setting that alarm you said you would about 4 days ago, etc. Procrastination may lead to being unprepared and self-doubt. How can you stop this and stop it now?
We must understand why we make excuses to push important task back.
Ask yourself, "how do I feel when I want to procrastinate?" Feel it and evaluate it, then you can make steps to making early preparation a Daily habit.
Below is a list of reasons why people decide to Procrastinate:
Perfectionism: Perfectionists may procrastinate because they are afraid of not completing a task perfectly.
Fear of failure: People may procrastinate to avoid a negative outcome that could occur if they complete the task.
Anxiety: Procrastination can contribute to anxiety, and anxiety can contribute to procrastination.
Overwhelm: People may procrastinate if they feel overwhelmed or don't know how to start a task.
Skill deficiency: People may procrastinate if they lack the skills to complete a task.
Decision fatigue: Procrastination can lead to decision fatigue, which can cause people to make flawed decisions.
Not enjoying the task: People may procrastinate if they don't think they'll enjoy doing the task.
Avoiding making themselves unhappy: People may procrastinate to avoid making themselves unhappy.
Fear of not doing the task well: People may procrastinate if they are afraid, they won't do the task well.
Any relate to you? If you've identified why, you procrastinate you've made the first step towards being a Go Getter! Good For You. Now ask yourself what if, what if you had started that diet 1 year ago, started that savings account 6 months ago, began studying for the test due in two days ago and maybe due today.... You could continue pushing things back, but the anxiety will continue, and you might even fail at something you started doing in passion.
Baby steps. I'm not pushing you off a cliff here, when you catch yourself coming up with an excuse why procrastinating sounds like an amazing idea. Take action!
